Who am I?

My name is Dr. Preethy Sridharan, and I am a medical student and scientist with a strong love for the arts! As long as I can remember, I have had a pencil or crayon in hand, and I taught myself how to draw and paint by observing the world around me. I began with still life and figure drawings, and learned a lot by studying the human form.

While working on my PhD in neurosciences, I fell in love with the microscopic images of the brain we captured in the lab using immunofluorescent labeling of various cells, such as neurons, microglia, and astrocytes. These images inspired a series of oil and acrylic paintings that I am continuing to expand on today.

Currently, I am working on an abstract project inspired by my time in the operating room. As an aspiring surgeon, I have found a certain beauty in the order, chaos, and structure of the human body as we restore functionality in our patients. I hope to capture this feeling in my work—stay tuned!
